the sill

This first post is brought to you by the sill! If you don’t know about the sill, it’s the place I have been conjuring all of my latest inspiration and energy for at-home projects. More on that at a later date. For now I would simply like to give you a précis of what I hope to bring to your table from my sill:

  1. Collaboration - This page has more or less been born out of the recent events transforming the world as we know it. The stimulus for starting on this blogging journey was my waking from a figurative and literal malaise (yes, I presented symptoms for COVID-19). The ongoing catalyst that will sustain this project is a mysterious cocktail of fear, hope, and desire for connection. I would like to feature what people are working on across communities during this time and especially welcome those that may be hesitant to share.

  2. Innovation - “What? Innovation? But your first objective is collaboration.” Some may argue that collaboration and innovation are mutually exclusive. Not to deflate any pop psych theories out there, but if there is a space where the two can coexist this is it! There may be days where this whole thing reads passively and as a leisure blog and that’s fine, but my furtive hope is to cultivate my creativity and motivation into greater utility and excitement for all.

  3. Compassion - I am an extremely emotional person and am highly sensitive to the individual and collective conscience. I would like to take this opportunity to channel the full spectrum of my feelings and personality into something that gives back.

What I don’t want:

  1. Lectures - I’m not here to preach and wax poetic on my life. I want to keep this a sacred place of learning and sharing in a journalistic sense. With that being said, I am still a human being with feelings, opinions, and beliefs, as iterated in my objectives listed above. While I can’t nor do I want to force total control over this page, my resolve is to uphold the neutral integrity of this virtual space. Thus, I ask that all of my viewers, commenters, and contributors to remember that we each take part in a much larger whole. TLDR (hope you did, though) - be considerate.

From sill to quill, I am very excited to share this new way of life with you. Happy discovering!
